These medieval shoes of very robust manufacture with brass buckles reach to the ankle at the shaft. This simple form of shoe was especially popular among soldiers between about 1250 and 1500. The shoe can therefore be attributed to the late Middle Ages. The smooth leather sole has a small heel.
