Gaiters: Piece of men's clothing. A type of boot that goes from the knee to the ankle, resting on the top of the foot. The purpose of use is to cover the shins from the cold and protect them from friction with gorse, thorns and other bushes when walking through the mountains. They used to be made of wool or leather, they are placed over the stocking and rest on top of the foot, they were adjusted with straps and buckles or buttons.
