Medieval helmet, Saint Wenceslas model, 2 mm.
Medieval helmet, Saint Wenceslas model, 2 mm.
Medieval helmet, Saint Wenceslas: This helmet that we present is based on the one preserved in Prague Castle and attributed to Saint Wenceslas I of Bohemia, Czech monarch of the first half of the 10th century. We find one of the earliest conical helmets made of a single piece, which were beginning to replace the Spangenhelms, much weaker in comparison. Without a doubt, its splendid, riveted and cruciform nose stands out, which although in some cases it has been related to Odin, it most likely corresponds to a somewhat conventionalized cross. The nose, which in the original is richly decorated, is presented plain so that it can be modified to taste. Without a doubt, it is the ideal protection for wealthy warriors from the 10th century onwards.
